Course Overview
Duration: 2 Hours
Cost : From $130
Course Delivery Mode: Blended. Online theory and quizzes with 2 hours face to face practical training.
About This Couse:
Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to perform rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution, or rail work functions.
It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace subject to regulations for the undertaking of electrical work.
Important Information:
In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor.
Units Covered:
- UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue From A Live LV Panel
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Training and assessment are done on behalf of ABC First Aid, RTO 3399
What You Will Learn
Followed DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines:
- Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
- Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface
- Managed the unconscious breathing casualty
- Followed the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Perform rescue from a live LV panel
- Prepare to perform rescue procedures from live LV panel
- Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions and work areas are identified and obtained. (This will include the risk assessment and control measures taken by the individual performing the rescue)
- Electricity isolation point is identified and labelled where appropriate. Tools and emergency equipment are checked for safety, functionality and placed in an accessible location to facilitate response and rescue according to established procedures.
Carry out rescue from live LV panel
- Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed.
- Workplace procedures for accessing and isolating the LV panel and removing the victim, where necessary, from contact with live apparatus are followed.
- Workplace procedures for applying CPR if required at the site and gaining access to treatment by a medical professional if necessary are followed.
Course Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Assessment Requirements:
Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including CPR and First Aid techniques. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.
