About This Couse:
Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to perform water rescues in aquatic environments, ensuring the safety of swimmers and minimizing risks during emergencies. The training aligns with guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other national standards.
This unit applies to individuals working in public and private aquatic facilities, including swimming pools, water parks, and leisure centers.
Important Information:
Practical training involves swimming both in shallow and deep water. Participants must have adequate physical fitness and good health as activities involve various levels of physical exertion and simulated role plays.
Units Covered:
This nationally recognised unit of competency forms a component of the Inland Open Water Lifeguard training package, and the Pool Lifeguard Skillset.

Course Prerequisites
No prerequisites, however students are required to have adequate fitness and good health as swimming in shallow and deep water is required along with other forms of physical exertion.
Assessment Requirements:
Assessment activities will include practical rescues, such as towing and extracting casualties, and using appropriate equipment. Students will demonstrate communication, strength, and aftercare procedures. A knowledge test and incident report completion will also be required to assess theoretical understanding and practical application in simulated rescue scenarios.
